X is for...

X-ray...

So last night, I mowed the lawn for the first time completely by myself and let me just say it is hard work!!! I almost had a heat stroke it was so difficult!!! But let me also just let you know that my yard is HUGE!!!! I mean ginormous!! It took me about an hour and a half to finish it all and it was super hot outside too!! It was actually only in the 80's but still that is really hot...I honestly don't understand how some people do this for a living! I definitely have a new found respect for all Lawn care professionals out there!

Besides that, Briawna and I have been watching some new movies lately and surprisingly they were really good...almost made me cry at at least 3 of them!

First, we watched "When In Rome"...a classic romantic comedy with Josh Duhamel and Kristin Bell! I really liked it, it was a good story line but honestly I think it could have been played out a little more intellectually and not completely about dumb blonde moments.

Second, we watched "The Sixth Sense"...now I understand that everyone has already seen this movie because it is completely a classic but I had never seen it until Friday night! This movie is quite phenomenal! I can't tell you how much it moved me!

Third, we watched "Remember Me"...I will be completely honest, when I first red-boxed this movie, it was because Robert Pattinson was the actor, but it really touched me. I had no idea that it had anything to do with 9/11...I must have missed that part of the previews but it was really moving and I almost came to tears...

And finally tonight, we watched "Letters to God"...the movie is actually still going on but I can already tell that it is going to be a tear-jerk. A young boys relationship with God really inspires me in more ways then one. When I first saw, "Fireproof" I was touched and wanted that kind of a relationship but sadly I was not dating or married to anyone so I could not entirely relate to the movie. But in Letters to God, the little boy has cancer. I mean he has a disease and so do I. I know that there is not even a close comparison between cancer and Wilson's disease but I guess it cuts me pretty deep sometimes when I read articles that say words like "fatal" and "lifelong" it just scares me.

But anyway, I just love movies that truly move me, so if anyone was wondering what movies to rent this next week, "The Sixth Sense", "Remember Me", and "Letters to God" are my recommendations!

Prayer Request

Also, before I head to sleep tonight I want to send a request out to all of you to pray for my grandma...

She has been diagnosed with Bone Marrow Cancer. She is luckily able to go through chemo in a pill form and started that awhile back so there is no radiation or other forms of chemo. This past week, she had some struggles and had to go into the hospital. She is there now until we can get her immune system back up to par.

She is eating on her own and doing better each day...just keep her and my family in your prayers please!

She is the only grandparent I have left so this time is really hard for me to even cope with it. Thank you to all! God Bless!

W is for....

Way too long.....

So it has been about 8 months and I decided that I should probably grace the blogworld with a post...I know I have been slacking on it but lets just be honest, alot has been going on since January so this is going to be a long post to just fill everyone in on what has been going on with me!
Well back in March/April time I started turning into a smurf
. I know that sounds funny but I really did. I started sweating the color blue. My perspiration was definitely turning into a smurf at least. So in the beginning of May I was talking to my best friend's mom (who did her laundry and noticed that I had "stained" one her her shirts) and asked, Whats this from? I said, "I don't know really I have just been turning different things blue recently, for example my shirts, my watch, and even my purse. She suggested that I go to the doctor to see what the deal was. So, I went to the doctor on May 11th, he ran tons of urine and blood tests and then he diagnosed me with Wilson's Disease, you can read about it here: http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/wilsons-disease-11044. It's an extremely rare genetic disease that I have somehow acquired.

For treatment on this disease I have initially begun Chelation Therapy. You can read about that here: http://www.webmd.com/balance/tc/chelation-therapy-topic-overview. It is an IV treatment that I am doing once a week for 20 weeks then we will do more urine and blood tests to see what it has accomplished over the past few months. This past Tuesday was my 10th Chelation so I am half way done!! I am also taking Zinc medication to fight the copper as well so hopefully that is helping.
At the end of September we are going to see a gastroenterologist to kind of get a more specialized view and diagnosis. All prayers are definitely appreciated on this subject!

On other health issues, two weeks ago Friday I had periodontal surgery. The
gums in front of my bottom teeth in the very front were receding so I had surgery completed that took a skin graft from the roof of my mouth and put it where the gums were receding. Also, through surgery the doctor told me that they had to cut my frenulum between my gums and my lip. So now I don't have a frenulum. It's pretty funny but just a new fun fact!

So besides all of the depressing facts about my health, I have decided to go back to school!! How crazy is that?? I decided that I love children and would love to be an elementary education teacher. It might have something to do with my wonderful best friend/roommate starting her first year of teaching this year...but mostly it is because I have to get out of this profession and do something that I love. So school is the start. I am also doing this on a faster paced program so I will go only at nights and only take 2 classes at a a time but they are at night and they only last for about 8 weeks instead of 16 weeks. I just finished my first teaching class and yep, I'm still nervous!!! :)

My parents and I also went to Vienna, Austria over the first week of July so that was pretty awesome! We took a couple day trips to Salzburg, Austria; Budapest, Hungary; Melk, Austria; and we took a dinner cruise on the Danube River in Austria. It was pretty awesome!
One of my best friend's also got married this summer, Janet and Caleb are extremely happy and completely cute even with cake all over their faces!!! I was her maid of honor so I definitely got to experience some of the action! :)
And this fall, my other best friend and now roommate has started her first year teaching!!! Check out her awesome desk and very first classroom!!

And finally, Last night at church, we had a huge blowout for the end of VBS. The theme was Hero Headquarters so we had all of our local Heroes come out and let the kids see the "toy
s" and ride the "rides." We had cop cars, fire trucks, SWAT team vans, a Humvee, and tons of other people. It was pretty fantastic!!

Lindsey and I posing next to all the big guns!!! :)

They tied me down on the gurney!! Crazy!!

Sorry for being so far away from the blogging world...hope you enjoy my pictures! Thanks for reading!!
